The whereabouts of the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is shrouded in secrecy after soldiers broke into his home in Afaraukwu area of Umuahia, Abia State capital.

Sources said that soldiers at evening of Thursday gain access into Kanu’s home and in the process allegedly shot dead four persons and a dog after which they went away with some items in the house.

A source told newsmen, “During the operation, they were alleged to have killed four persons and a dog, took away 15 persons and carted away all the awards to Kanu”.

The source said that currently Kanu’s whereabouts is unclear.

Recalls that heavy gunshots erupted earlier today around Kanu’s home at about 5pm on Thursday, with residents scampering for safety and businesses hurriedly closing shop.

News Express had reported that early Thursday morning, soldiers killed two young men suspected to be IPOB members.”

The shooting came shortly after Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, announced that soldiers would be withdrawn from the streets of Umuahia and the commercial hub Aba on Friday to reduce tension and the suffering of the people.
