Omo-Agege Chickens Out Of Fresh Fraud Petition Against Ibori, Uduaghan, Okowa

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege

Following backlash which greeted the report that he was planning to petition successive governments in which he also served as Commissioner and Secretary to State Government, Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District of Delta State, Ovie Omo-Agege at the weekend capitulated saying the said fresh petition is not from him.

Omo-Agege who served in Ibori’s government as Commissioner and Secretary to the State Government in last days of the administration, said it was “cheap blackmail” to ascribe the proposed petition to him.

His aide, Henry Efe Duku, who is said to be at the forefront of the campaign to petition the former Governors to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, said his boss was not a member of the independent group that wants Ibori, Uduaghan and Okowa investigated for alleged huge corruptions during their reign as chief executive of the oil rich state as exclusively reported earlier by BigPen Online.

This was contained in a terse message by Omo-Agege’s aide, Duku, entitled: “On The EFCC Petition – Blackmail Won’t Work”.

He said: “The decision to prepare and submit a Petition to the EFCC to investigate allegations of huge corruption and abandoned projects in Delta was taken by DSG – Delta Stakeholders Group.

“DSG was formed in Lagos in 2001 to promote good public governance in Delta. It is diversionary, unwise and unhelpful for anyone to ascribe the Petition to APC Delta leaders and particularly Senator Ovie Omo-Agege who has never been a DSG member.

“That is cheap blackmail. My working with the Senator has not extinguished my lawful right to associate responsibly. It cannot extinguish my foundation membership of a credible body like the DSG.

“The blackmail cannot and will not, by any stretch of imagination, change the firm collective resolve of DSG on this matter. It is better for those who are afraid to start preparing their cases.

“They should stop wasting time to blackmail individuals like Senator Omo-Agege who are not connected to the Petition.

“As a reputable body of intellectuals, professionals and leaders, non-members of DSG can neither influence nor change its thoughtful decisions”.

BigPen Online recalls Omo-Agege and Uduaghan were both SSG to Ibori and members of his political family until 2007 when the Senator fell apart with his former political allies due to irreconcilable political differences.
