Delta Line Bus Crashes In Delta, Killing Eight, Injuring Seven Others

A commercial bus belonging to the Delta State Government popularly known as Delta Line on Tuesday crashed, killings eight persons a day injuring seven others.

The bus was reportedly involved in a ghastly motor accident along the Benin-Asaba Expressway near Agbor in Ika South Council Area of Delta State.

Eyewitnesses account says that the bus fell off a bridge and plunged into the Itakpe-Aladja railway line which is 50 feet below.

The bus was said to be travelling from Agbor to Asaba, the state capital, when the driver lost control plunging the both the occupants into the unused railway line.

A source who gave account of the incident, said the dead victims included six males and two females while a child and six other adults sustained various degrees of injuries.

Eyewitnesses said the commercial bus with registration number BMA 524 XA belonged to the Delta Line Service which the state government recently sold its majority shares.

The State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), Mr. Rindom Kumven, confirmed the report.

Kumven said the corpses of the dead victims had been deposited at the mortuary in Agbor where the injured are equally receiving treatment.

He attributed the cause of the crash to fatigue, leading the driver to have lost control of the vehicle.
