The Nigerian Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim ‎Idris has landed in trouble as the Senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District, Isa Misau, who was once a police officer has revealed how the IG has being ripping off the police force as well as taking bribes to post Commissioner of Police.

Misau who dropped the bombshell on Friday at a news conference in Abuja, said that the Inspector General of Police lacks experience to run the Nigerian Police Force.

Misau equally accused Inspector General of Police of failure to remit money realised from policemen attached to private citizens and oil companies, which is about N10 billion monthly, to the Federation Account.

He also alleged that Commissioners of Police had to bribe their way before they can be posted to juice state like Rivers and Delta States among others.

The Bauchi State senator insisted that as at present, everything in the police is not merit because officers with 15 years experience in the Force were given special promotion.

He said: “The Police Service Commission could not deny the bribery allegation.

“Information reaching me indicate that even transfers of Commissioners of Police, State Mobile Commanders and SPU Commanders are also allegedly riddled in corruption.

“The chain of command in the force does not allow these grievances to be aired, but the allegation is also rife that the IGP posted a Commissioners of Police, who for the past 17 years has not worked/served in a police station, to take charge of a state.

“The former Police aide to late Governor Dipreye Alamieyeseigha, who eventually served under former President Goodluck Jonathan, is now Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State.

“Foisting such officers without operational experience has been a major setback to the current administration’s fight against the Boko Haram insurgency.‎

“There is an allegation that more than 50,000 policemen are attached to oil companies, banks and private individuals, with regular payments made to Police authorities.

“While monies from these sources are estimated to run into billions of naira, they are however unaccounted for.

“The IGP is alleged to aggressively pursue nepotistic tendencies in favour of his Nupe officers and men.”

BigPen Online learnt that Misau was already preparing a formal petition against the IG which would be lay on the floor of the Senate for investigation by the Senate committee.

Meanwhile, the Eagle Online had earlier reports that Misau, who was accused by the police authorities of having been shown the way out of the Police Force, presented the letter of his exit from service by the Police Service Commission to newsmen.

The IGP, through the Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, had on Thursday accused Misau of making pronouncements against the police out of vendetta.

He was said to have been thrown out of the Force.
