Paris Club Refunds: Okowa Diverts N3billion To Finance His Reelection In 2019 – Sources

Fresh allegations of divert of about N3billion naira is currently trailing the N10billion Paris Club Refund, being the second tranche of fund recently disbursed by the Federal Government to state governments of which Delta state ranked among the first five highest paid states.
Some concerned Deltans who didn’t want their names on print had alleged that about N3billion of the money have been set outside by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State of finance his reelection bid in 2019.
The sources alleged that Okowa unlike Ekiti state and others has failed to disclosed the modalities on how to disburse the money.
A Director in the State Ministry of Finance who preferred anonymity revealed that the sum of N3billion kept outside by the Okowa’s administration was to persecute the 2019 reelection of the Governor.
“I can tell you without fear or favour that the governor has earmarked a whooping sum of N3 billion into a private account ahead of the 2019 gubernatorial race to stage his come back to Government House. The governor has concluded plans to pay less than five months salaries to local government workers, “the Director also claimed.
Another source close to the office of the Accountant General (AG) who do not want her names mentioned simply said, “Governor Okowa has earmarked N3 billion into a secret account for 2019 election. Go to the finance ministry and the AG’s office, the issue is been discussed in hushed tones in groups.”
