Indications has emerged that the embattled General Manager of Delta State Government owned, Delta Broadcasting Service, Warri, Mr Tunde Omonode is currently in a sit-tight controversy after a panel of inquiry had suspended him from office over alleged misconduct.

The Station’s MD who had been facing a state government constituted panel over theft of office equipment was suspended by the panel in accordance with the state Civil Service rules and bylaws of the Broadcasting Station.

The development, BigPen Online can report may force the workers to down tools in protest of the reported refusal of suspended General Manager to accept the verdict of the panel.

Omonode who was indicted by the panel of inquiry over alleged theft of office equipment is reportedly maintaining a ‘sit-tight posture’ despite his suspension, our source said.

BigPen Online was told on Tuesday that though he was given a soft landing by the panel constituted by the Board of Directors of the station as well as Ministry of Information, he had refused to accept and sign the letter of suspension handed down to him.

The five-man panel headed by Mr. Frank Apokwu recommended a transfer of service for Omonode as against dismissal on the ground that he has served for 20 years as civil servant.

He was purportedly found culpable for alleged theft of office equipment such as foams, air conditioners as well as some vital items in the station’s Outside Broadcasting Van.

Sources said that the recommendation of the panel was on Monday received with great delight by staff of the station, who had accused Omonode of running the station aground.

“Despite the wild jubilation by staffers of the medium on hearing the news of the suspension of Mr. Igramma (Omonode) on Monday July 31, the former pop star has remained adamant and appears determined to hold sway in the medium that has continued to suffer infrastructural decay under his leadership “,  the source said.
