Youths Protest Against Road Contractor, Lawmaker In Delta

  Youths from agrarian Ikpide-Irri community in Isoko South local government area of Delta state on Monday protested against the contracting firm, Portplus Limited, handling the controversial road project in the community. The youths also protested against the member representing Isoko South constituency I, in the state House of Assembly, Mrs. Orezi Esievo, saying she has failed in her representation of the area. The protesters alleged that the contractor handling the road project was hiring non-indigenes to work as labourers in the project to the detriment of the indigenes who are left with nothing. The group, Isoko Monitoring Group, (IMG), has called on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state to revoke and re-award the controversial N736.4 million road contract in Ikpide-Irri riverine community in Isoko South local government area of Delta State. The contract awarded to PortPlus Maritime Solution Company has been enmeshed in series of protest and agitation by indigenes of the area over shoddy nature of the job being done by the contractor who is an indigene of the community.   Aladja Community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta has dismissed report that they waylaid a convoy convening medical personnel of the wife of the Delta State Governor, Dame Edith Okowa on her way to Ogbe-Ijoh Community for her 05 Medical Outreach Initiative.
