BREAKING! No Winner In Osun Governorship Election, INEC Declares, Says It’s ‘Inconclusive’

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the Osun State governorship election as ‘inconclusive’.

INEC declared the election inconclusive after announcing that the People’s Democratic Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke, polled 254,698 while APC candidate scored 254,345 votes.

Adeleke led his main rival, Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress with 353 votes, less than the 3,498 votes that were cancelled during the poll.

The reason for the inconclusive decision, according to the electoral body, is because the number of cancelled votes is higher than the margin between the two top candidates – Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party and Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress.

Announcing the results on Sunday afternoon, Joseph Afuwape, INEC’s Returning Officer, said, “Unfortunately, as the Returning Officer, it is not possible to declare any party as winner,” he said.

He implored party agents to wait for a few minutes to get the date for a rerun between the two leading candidates.
