OMPAN’s Convention: Buhari To Deliver Keynote Address

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari will deliver a keynote address at the National Convention of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN), coming up next week, BigPen Online can report.

The convention tagged “Owerri 2018” will hold between Friday March 30th and Saturday 31st, 2018 at the Imo Youth Centre.

Imo state Governor, Owelle Rocha Okorocha who is the chief host is expected to declare the convention open on Friday and will lead online media practitioners on a guided tour of projects in his state.

A statement on Saturday night by the Public Relations Officer of the Association, Evang Promise Uzoma Okoro, says President Buhari will be represented at the event by his Special Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie as part of the Federal Government recognition of the role of the online media to the political development of Nigeria.

“We have confirmed that President Muhammadu Buhari as part of his recognition of the importance of the Online Media will on Saturday through his Special Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie deliver a Keynote Address at our National Convention holding on Friday 30th and Saturday 31st March 2018”

“The Convention which is strictly for Bloggers and Online Media Practitioners is expected to handle sundry issues as they affect the Online Media in Nigeria”.

“Other keynote speakers at the Convention are: Dr. ACB Agbazuere, Former Commissioner for Information, Abia State; Prince Odunze O. Odunze, Special Assistant to Governor Rochas Okorocha on Media Production; Rt. Hon. Shuaibu Sani, Coordinating Coordinator, Nasarawa Pilot Online Media platform and Peter Jones Ailuorio, publisher of New Sentinel Online News Media Lagos”
