2-Year-Anniversary: Isoko South Boss Affirms Commitment to Deliver Campaign Promises

The chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, Friday Ovoke Warri, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering on its campaign promises and transforming the council area despite prevailing financial constraints.

Speaking on Wednesday during a thanksgiving service held to commemorate his second anniversary in office, the chairman expressed gratitude to God for His faithfulness throughout the administration’s journey, describing the past two years as a period of remarkable progress, resilience, and challenges.

Warri acknowledged the enormous financial burden confronting the council, particularly the huge monthly wage bill for primary school teachers, but assured residents that his administration remains steadfast in its determination to rebuild Isoko South and restore its pride of place among local government councils in Delta State through the implementation of his “Warri for Your Worries” agenda.

“My agenda is not to turn Isoko South into Jerusalem overnight, but I made a promise that I would never leave Isoko South the way I met it. Today, we are gradually moving in that direction,” he said.

Reflecting on the administration’s journey, the chairman noted that the past two years had been marked by both accomplishments and challenges, stressing that there was every reason to remain thankful to God. Our two-year journey has been one of joy and challenges, but in all circumstances, we give thanks to God because with Him, there is always hope,” he stated.

Addressing concerns over the council’s financial obligations, Warri disclosed that Isoko South currently has only 48 public primary schools but maintains a workforce of more than 1,200 primary school personnel, resulting in a substantial monthly wage bill.

He noted that the situation contrasts sharply with neighbouring Ughelli South local government area, which has about 99 public primary schools but fewer than 1,000 teachers.

The council boss also pledged transparency and accountability, assuring residents that before the expiration of his tenure, he would publicly present a comprehensive account of his administration’s stewardship.

“Before I leave office, I will gather the people and formally present my scorecard, detailing what we inherited, what we received, and how every resource entrusted to this administration has been utilised,” he assured.

Warri called on the people of Isoko South to continue supporting his administration through prayers, cooperation, and constructive engagement as the council sustains its developmental drive across the local government area.

Dignitaries at the thanksgiving service include the chairman’s wife, Mrs. Abigail Warri; the vice chairman of Isoko South, Theresa Ikrike; leader of the Legislative Arm, Bright Olokor; Secretary to the Local Government, Zino Osuofa; serving councillors, supervising councillors; political appointees; Head of Personnel Management (HPM), Mrs. Mary Oforgbor; staff of the Isoko South, clergymen and other distinguished guests.
