BREAKING: Intrigues As Atiku’s Running Mate, Okowa, Oborevwori Dump PDP

Political intrigues have started unfolding in Delta State ahead 2027 general elections as former Delta State Governor and 2023 vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has reportedly dumped the party.
BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) learnt while Okowa is dumping PDP for yet to be announced party, his ‘political son’, who is incumbent Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori has made his way into the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC)
Okowa reportedly made his stance public on Wednesday after he informed his constituents of the development in a video seen by BIGPEN NIGERIA.
However, Okowa did not reveal the party he would be joining.
There are speculations he would be heading to the All Progressives Congress.
In the video, Okowa, who spoke largely in his native language, said: “Be assured that we will not go in the wrong direction.
“We will take the best direction, the best path for our people.”
Although Oborevwori defections have not been officially confirmed, multiple reports indicated that the governor made his stance following a closed-door meeting at the Government House in Asaba on Wednesday evening.
The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, who confirmed the decision said the decision was reached after “wide consultations with political stakeholders and in the interest of Delta’s long-term development.”
Oborevwori, who emerged victorious in the 2023 gubernatorial election under the PDP platform, was received by senior APC officials in what political analysts are already describing as a strategic realignment with significant implications ahead of the 2027 general elections.
