NEPL/NDW OML 34 Spreads Christmas Cheer To Host Communities, Expresses Delight Over Hitch-free Operations

Management of NEPL/NDWestern, operators of OML 34, has demonstrated its commitment to the well-being of its host communities by distributing food items and cash sums worth millions of naira during the festive period.

The gesture, part of the company’s annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS), is aimed to cushion the effects of high inflation rates and show appreciation for the communities’ support.

The items handed over to the executive bodies of the various host communities in Delta State included bags of rice, groundnut oil, salts, non-alcoholic wines and gins, and cash sums.

Mr. George Nwasiolo, Manager, Government, Community and Security Department (GCSC), who represented Mr. Karo Oviaiti, Chief Operating Officer (COO) OML 34, during the exercise at the Edjebah office of the oil firm, emphasized the importance of sustaining the priority placed on the wellbeing of indigenes within its operational areas.

While acknowledging that the company has had a very cordial working relationship with its various host communities over the years, he disclosed that this year was resounding, as it recorded zero damage to its operational facilities and also a hitch-free operations in its entire locations.

According to him; “The Management decided to embark on this annual gesture to show its appreciation to the indigenes of these host communities for their support and friendly disposition to the operations of the company in their areas and we want them to sustain this partnership in the coming year”.

Nwasiolo, noted that apart of the yearly christmas package, the company can also boost of embarking on impactful CSR in the communities, especially in line with the yearnings of the people, adding that this also contributed to building trust and understanding between the company and the people in the various host communities.

“This year’s distribution was particularly notable, with the company recording zero damage to its operational facilities and hitch-free operations across all locations. The company’s CSR initiatives have contributed to building trust and understanding between the company and the communities”.

Speaking in turns, leaders of the communities who benefited from the gesture including those in Delta Central and South Senatorial districts, where the company’s operational facilities are concentrated, thanked the oil firm for its commitment to their welfare and expressed gratitude for the annual donations.

Specifically, the President-General and Secretary of Oghior community in Udu Local Government area, Moses Uchere Esq. and Markson Koyaya, respectively, applauded the management for still being able to meet up with the yearly gesture considering the current state of the economy and assured of their continued support to its operations in their community.

In the same vein, Patrick Ajenirena, and Kutu Egwono, both present and past President General of Usieffurun community In Ughelli South, commended the company’s management for the sustenance of the gesture and expressed the commitment of their people in fostering the cordial relationship between both parties.

In his remark, Professor Aguwe, President-General of Okurode-Urhobo community in Warri South and Lugard Okotete as well as Charles Okotete, Secretary and Provost, respectively, appreciated the management for always extending the gesture to them every year and promised to ensure it got the people it was meant for in the community.
