In a shocking development, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation is embroiled in a fresh scandal involving the alleged approval of N3 billion from the COVID-19 Palliative Fund for the verification of the National Social Register.

BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) reports that Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, has been implicated in approving this request on behalf of President Bola Tinubu.

A leaked memo reveals that Gbajabiamila granted the suspended Minister, Betta Edu, permission to use the funds for the verification process.

However, it is unclear whether there was written approval from President Tinubu.

This scandal comes after Edu was suspended for attempting to transfer N585 million meant for vulnerable Nigerians into a private account.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is currently investigating this matter.

Furthermore, the EFCC has recently questioned the Accountant General of the Federation, Dr. Oluwatoyin Madein, regarding the N585 million scandal and other related issues.

Dependable sources revealed that EFCC intends to thoroughly investigate these transactions and ensure accountability within the Ministry.

“The aim is to uncover any further wrongdoing and hold those responsible accountable for their actions”, an official said.
