Tight Security, Media Censorship As Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial Resumes Today

The resumed trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu will today Monday, witness high-level security coverage with restrict media coverage.

BIGPENNGR understands the restriction was conveyed in an approval letter containing the names of journalists and  media houses to cover the trial today Monday, July 26 which has been under circulations on the social media.
The letter which emanated from the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Abuja, mentioned only ten media houses as those approved to have access to the court premises.

The letter dated July 23, 2021,  was signed by the Chief Information Officer, Catherine Oby Christopher.

Kanu was first arraigned in court on Tuesday, June 29 after he was arrested by Interpol in Kenya and brought back to Nigeria on Sunday, June 27, according to sources.

The Federal High Court judge, Justice Binta Nyako, had ruled then that Kanu should be remanded in the DSS custody until Monday, July 26 for the continuation of the trial.
