The Ologbotsere families has resubmitted the name of Chief Ayirimi Emami as their choice for the coveted Traditional Prime Minister (Ologbotsere) of Warri Kingdom, putting to an end the controversy surrounding his earlier nomination.

BigPen Online recalls that Emami was earlier rejected by some of his kinsmen who protested to the Olu of Warri palace, urging the monarch not to accept the candidature of Ayiri.

But arising from an enlarged family meeting on Thursday, representatives of each of the eleven families that make up the Ologbotsere descendants, reaffirmed that Chief Ayirimi Emami remains their preferred choice for the prestigious title of Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom.

The decision was taken by a well-attended meeting by representatives of each of the kindred family held at the Sapele resident of the Ologbotsere family head, Pa. Higson Oporokun.

The meeting stated clearly that the selection process that threw up Chief Emami followed due process as each family representatives re-echoed their commitment to his choice.

BigPen Online learnt that after the meeting, Chief Emami’s name was re-submitted to His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, The Olu of Warri by the Ologbotsere families led by Pa. Oporokun for confirmation and conferment of the Ologbotsere title.

A source at the meeting who confirmed the development, said various speakers appealed to the Diare and Omasan families from the Uwangue Descendant to withdraw their candidate, Mr. Jolomi Rewane “because their nomination was not only coming too late, but also grossly negates the spirit and letters of the agreement reached by the entire family to allow families that has not held the position since its creation to present candidates for screening”.

Speaking to newsmen at the end of the enlarged meeting that had the presence of six (6) Palace Chiefs, Chief Omolubi Newuwumi said the meeting has re-affirmed their choice of Chief Ayirimi Emami and called on aggrieved family members and the entire Itsekiri Nation to respect their choice of candidate.

The Diare and Omasan families however told the meeting that they would get back to the entire Ologbotsere descendants after due consultation.
