Atiku’s Son Earlier Remanded Freed

Published

on

The son of the former Vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who was earlier remanded on Wednesday by Chief Magistrate Mrs K.B Ayeye of Magistrate Court 1, Tinubu, Lagos has been released.

He was released late Wednesday afternoon after he produced his six year old boy in court which was the bone of contention between him and his estranged wife.

This was contained in a statement by Nwabuzor Ethel Okoh, for the Festus Keyamo’s chambers, who are the solicitors to Miss Ummi Fatima Bolori, the estranged wife of the former Vice President’s son, Aminu Abubakar.

The statement read: As already widely reported, kindly recall that earlier today, Chief Magistrate Mrs K.B Ayeye of Magistrate Court 1, Tinubu , remanded Aminu Abubakar in prison custody for his failure to produce in court one of the children of the broken marriage with client, as ordered by the Honorable Court.

However, following his remand in custody, he was compelled to produce the 6-year old boy in court late this afternoon.

Accordingly, Aminu Abubakar was released from custody and our client, Miss Ummi Bolori, has been reunited with her two kids which were forcefully taken from her by Aminu Abubakar four years ago.

Recall that Aminu, the son of former Vice PresidentAtiku Abubakar, was detained in the transit cell of Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday.

He was sanctioned for disobeying by Chief Magistrate Kikelomo Ayeye on October 11 over the custody of six-year-old Amir Abubakar.

As against the directive of the court, Aminu Atiku Abubakar had taken away his child from the custody of his estranged wife, Fatimo Bolori.

Ayeye had earlier ordered the respondent in the suit marked FCL/29/2017, between U. F.  Bolori Vs M. A. Abubakar to produce Amir Abubakar at the first hearing of the case.

But when the case came up on Wednesday for the discharge of “Emergency, Evacuation/Protection Order” made by the court, the court was informed that the parties were planning to settle out of court.

In response, Bolori’s lawyer, Mr. Nwabuzor Okoh, denied receiving any notification from the respondent to settle out of court.

Consequently, Chief Magistrate Ayeye cited Atiku for contempt for disobeying court order issued on October  11.
