‘Buhari May Save Oshiomhole’ Ahead APC NEC Meeting

Published

on

The plot to remove Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) come Tuesday, March 17, at the emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party, may running into hitches, going by the feelers from the presidency.

BIGPEN gathered from our often reliable source at the villa that President Buhari was yet to be convinced by those who are pushing to oust Oshiomhole why he should be forced out.

Sources said that Mr. President wants Oshiomhole to serve out his tenure but some element are mounting intense pressure on him to kick out the party’s national chairman.

It was gathered that Buhari was not keen with the idea that Oshiomhole have to be disgraced out of office as national chairman of the party.

Sources said that if President Buhari had wanted Oshiomhole out, he could have kicked him out long after his assumed office for his second tenure in office.

The source also disclosed that the power-brokers in the Buhari-led federal government are yet to convinced the President why some elements want Oshiomhole to be sack.

According to the source, Buhari believes many asking him to sack Oshiomhole were doing that because of their self-interest and not the interest of the party.

“Mr. President is not keen with the plot to disgrace Oshiomhole, he doesn’t want to do it and the NEC meeting would not succeed with that plot if the President didn’t give his concert. Watch it; the tables would turn before Tuesday. What you will be hearing will be different except if the plan is coming from Mr. President, but I can tell you that Oshiomhole would survive it”, our source said Saturday night.

Our source, however reasoned that if Oshiomhole is controversially booted out, the move would further divide and leave the party devastated ahead 2023 general elections.

The source disclosed that Oshiomhole may be given a soft landing stemmed from directive from the presidency to step outside in a later day other than the much-awaited emergency NEC meeting.

BIGPEN reports that the development is coming a day after leaders of the party from the South-South geopolitical zone are pushing the current Acting National Chairman of the party, Victor Giadom, as a replacement for the embattled National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.
