N1Billion Financial Scandal Rocks Delta Assembly, Speaker Oborevwori Fingered

A financial scandal is currently rocking the Delta State House of Assembly.

BIGPEN Online gathered that the lawmakers are set for each other jugular over a whopping sum of N1 billion that ought to accrue to them before the end of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa first tenure but was allegedly diverted.

It was gathered that a section of the lawmakers are pointing accusing fingers at the Speaker, Sheriff Oborevwori for pocketing the money which was approved by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the House.

Dependable sources disclosed that Governor Okowa had in August 2018, approved and reversed the monthly subvention to the Assembly to N150M from N100m with effect from Jan 2018.

But the Speaker in alleged connivance with two senior officials allegedly diverted the increment, which is about N1bn without the knowledge of the Deputy Speaker, other principal officers of the Assembly.

It was gathered that Oborevwori incurred the wrath of a some section of the House following his failure to disclose the accrued sum which is currently causing ripples in the House.

BIGPEN Online however understands that the undercurrent problem stemmed from the speakership position which is currently under contention between the embattled Speaker, Hon Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of former governor, Chief James Ibori, as well as the Majority Leader, Hon. Tim Owhefere.

The allegation of financial recklessness and impropriety in the House is also coming to force Oborevwori who is said to be nursing Governorship ambition in 2023 out and whittle down his power ahead 2023.

It was gathered that some members of the House had vowed to impeach the embattled Oborevwori within one month if Governor Okowa allow him to come back as the Speaker of the House in his second tenure.
