IGP Task Force Nabs Man Who Uses Govt Vehicle To Shield Bunkerers

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Special Task Force, attached to the PPMC depot in Warri, Delta state have arrested a man who allegedly used a Delta State Government vehicle to shield a cartel that specializes in the marketing of locally refined AGO otherwise known as diesel.

It was gathered that the vehicle, a Toyota Hilux van, was allegedly used by the suspect to shield the other accomplice to beat security checkpoints, and patrols but it was rounded up on Wednesday in Jeddo community in Okpe Local Government Area of the state.

The Task force also arrested three others with a truck loaded with refined diesel at the popular Samzino filling station, allegedly notorious for its involvement in shady illegal petroleum products deals.

Among the suspects was one Blessing Odogboro (m) 43 years, who drove the Toyota Hilux van with the inscription “Delta state Task Force on Petroleum Monitoring” and three others namely; Hassan Mohammed (m) 36 years, Great Favour Zaki (m) 42 years, Rufia Aminu (m) 22 years.

The Commander, IGP Special Task Force on Pipeline Vandalization, PPMC Depot,  Warri, SP Mohammed El-Yakubu, who confirmed this report, reiterated his commitment to on-going war against crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism. 

He warned the criminal element behind this dastardly act, especially within his area of coverage to desist as it would no longer be business as usual for them.

“These recent arrest should serve as a warning signal to those perpetrating this criminal act to put an end to in this area as my Command  is out to ensure that such is no longer allowed within my  coverage area”, SP El-Yakubu reaffirmed.

BIGPEN ONLINE would recalled that the Task Force had last week invaded two notorious illegal refineries camps in Oteghele and Ugbodede communities both in Warri South Council area and arrested nine persons alongside 15,000 litres of refined diesel.
