The Delta State Executive Council (EXCO) has approved the reconstruction and rehabilitation of several critical road projects across the state, including the first phase of the Warri Ring Road and the Ugbolu-Illah Road.

The approvals were granted at the EXCO meeting presided over by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at Government House, Asaba.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, said the council approved major interventions in the Warri-Effurun corridor and other parts of the state.

Aniagwu, who was accompanied by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, disclosed that the first phase of the Warri Ring Road, covering the stretch from First Marine Gates to Port Gate, was approved for reconstruction, alongside the rehabilitation of the road from Old Port Gate to the NPA Expressway.

According to him, the council also approved rapid rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of Airport Road, Warri, Jakpa Road, Effurun, and Refinery Road, Effurun, to ease traffic flow and address infrastructure decay in the axis.

He said the rehabilitation of Refinery Road became urgent due to its deplorable condition and the hardship it poses to motorists and residents.
