2027: Why I Accepted Delta North Senate Call – Okowa, Backs Ekwueme Political Movement

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta North Senatorial candidate, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has explained why he accepted the call to return to the Senate and the formation of the Ekwueme Political Movement (EPM) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Okowa spoke on Sunday at the inauguration of the Ekwueme Political Movement at the APC Secretariat, Boji Boji Owa, Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State, an event presided over by the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme.
According to Okowa, the movement was born out of a collective resolve by APC leaders across the 78 wards in Delta North to embark on a door-to-door campaign to ensure massive victory for the APC in 2027.
He thanked the ward chairmen and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him, saying their decision to recall him was the driving force behind his senatorial ambition.
“A politician must continue to look out for others; it is better that we win together and work together; I thank all of you, and I am proud to be a patron of this movement,” Okowa said.
“All support and pressure groups must register and work for the party. On the day of elections, you send a message to those who are contesting with your voter’s cards; go out to campaign so that our votes can speak loudly.”
The former governor assured that his voice would not be silenced and pledged to remain accessible to the people if elected.
“My voice cannot be silenced; I am happy that you have resolved to send me back to the Senate; I will remain accessible to you all,” he stated.
Earlier, inaugurating the group, Deputy Governor Onyeme said the Ekwueme Movement was formed to consolidate APC’s achievements and mobilize grassroots support, describing the APC as the only party with verifiable track records to campaign with in 2027.
Onyeme cited the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori through the expanded M.O.R.E Agenda, listing infrastructure, local government autonomy, education, healthcare and civil service welfare as tangible results of APC governance.
Other leaders at the event, including Hon. Charles Emetulu, representing Ndokwa West in the Delta State House of Assembly, and Hon. Pascal Adigwe, said Delta North took the best decision by calling on Okowa to contest the senatorial seat.
The founder of the group, Evangelist Moses Kamaya, said the EPM would work for the victory of all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Dignitaries present included the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, and the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Sir Chris Osakwe.
