Former Delta State Governor Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has commended the Diocese of Ika (Anglican Communion) for launching the Ika Vision 2032 Endowment Fund, describing the seven-year initiative as a bold plan to strengthen the Church and advance the social and economic development of Ika Nation.

Okowa made the remarks after joining the launch, which was held on Saturday, 12 September 2026.

In a statement posted on Sunday, he said the future of Ika people depends greatly on the values instilled in young people.

“The Church, traditional institutions, parents, and the wider community all have a responsibility to shape their minds, strengthen their values, and channel their energy and potential towards positive and productive purposes,” he said.

He commended Rt. Rev. Godfrey Ifeanyichukwu Ekpenisi, the Diocese of Ika, and others behind the vision for their commitment to building a stronger future.

With collective responsibility and sustained commitment, he added, Ika Nation can become a place future generations will be proud to inherit.

The endowment launch follows the earlier presentation of Ika Vision 2032 — tagged “A Church Revived; A People Transformed” — at the 26th Ogwa Ika in August.

Bishop Ekpenisi has said the plan, running through December 2032, seeks a spiritually strong, mission-driven Church and an Ika Nation that is morally awake, economically productive and educationally advanced.

The Diocese had earlier indicated it intends to raise about ₦3 billion over seven years, with the formal launch billed for Vienna Arena, Boji-Boji Owa.

Okowa, an indigene of Owa-Alero in Ika North-East, has repeatedly framed development as people-centred rather than infrastructure alone.

His appearance at the launch aligns with that message that institutions must work together to form character and direct youth energy into productive work.

The Diocese has in recent years expanded churches, schools and social enterprises under Bishop Ekpenisi. The endowment is meant to give that work a longer financial and governance base, including structured fund management and public reporting, so projects outlast any single administration.
