21 Boko Haram Terrorists Killed as Army Troops Storm Hideout in Adamawa

Troops of the Nigerian Army have reportedly killed 21 Boko Haram terrorists during a joint operation at a terrorist camp around the Kopre Mountain general area of Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The operation, conducted between the early hours of August 26 and August 27, followed credible intelligence indicating the presence of Boko Haram fighters in the area.

The operation reportedly resulted in the deaths of 21 terrorists, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.

The troops subsequently destroyed the camp, along with logistics and other items recovered from the location.

Weapons and ammunition recovered included AK-47 rifles, AK-47 magazines and 7.62mm special ammunition.

The troops also destroyed several motorcycles, bicycles and jerrycans containing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) believed to belong to the terrorists.

According to counter-insurgency publication Zagazola Makama, military sources said the troops moved into the area under the cover of darkness between 1:30 a.m. on August 26 and 4:10 a.m. on August 27 before launching an assault on the terrorist camp.

However, a member of the local hunter component supporting the operation was reportedly killed during the encounter.

Zagazola Makama added that there were no reported losses of military equipment during the operation.
