Katsina Cracks Down on Insecurity: Radda Bans Fuel Sales in Jerry Cans, Shuts POS Centres, Restricts Motorcycles in Two LGAs

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has signed an Executive Order prohibiting the sale, purchase, transportation, and storage of petroleum products in jerry cans across the state as part of renewed efforts to curb insecurity.
The directive, which takes immediate effect, is aimed at preventing the diversion of fuel supplies to criminal elements operating in remote locations.
In a further crackdown on activities believed to be aiding criminal networks, Governor Radda also ordered the immediate closure of all Point of Sale (POS) outlets and commercial phone-charging centres in Matazu and Musawa Local Government Areas.
According to security intelligence reports, the facilities have allegedly been exploited by criminal groups to facilitate their operations.
The governor additionally imposed a ban on the use of motorcycles throughout Matazu and Musawa LGAs, citing concerns that bandits and kidnappers frequently rely on motorcycles for mobility and the execution of attacks.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Governor Radda reaffirmed that the protection of lives and property remains the foremost responsibility of his administration.
He pledged continued collaboration with security agencies to restore lasting peace and stability across affected communities and urged residents to comply fully with the new directives while providing timely and credible information to security operatives.
The state government warned that individuals found violating the measures would face legal sanctions.
