Navy, Tantita Renew Partnership as CNS Inaugurates Multi-million Naira Naval Projects at NNS Delta

The Nigerian Navy and Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) on Monday reaffirmed their partnership in safeguarding critical national maritime assets as the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, inaugurates multiple naval infrastructures funded by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) at the Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS Delta, in Warri Delta State.

The projects which ranges from Senior Rates 30 x 1 Self Contain Transit Accomodation, Executive Officer’s Instructional Accomodation, remodelled Fleet Support Group, Central Administrative Block, Volleyball and Lawn Tennis Courts as well as car parks were constructed and furnished by TSSNL as part of its corporate social responsibility to the Nigerian Navy.

Commissioning the projects, Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Central Naval Command (CNC), Admiral Suleiman Ibrahim, who represented the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, at the event, said that that the projects were tailored to enhancing operational readiness, strategic partnerships, and personnel welfare.

Rear Adm. Ibrahim, thanked Tantita for sponsoring the key welfare facilities, which he said would boost the morale of men and officers of the navy.

He said that the new sports facilities and improved infrastructure, including renovated auditoriums, administrative blocks, and upgraded accommodations, would promote teamwork, fitness, and a better working environment.

The FOC said that the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, would have love to personally inaugurate the projects not for his busy schedule over chains of activities lined up to commemorate the naval 70th anniversary in Abuja.

He said that the projects were the result of the cordial relationship built over the years by the navy with institutions.

“This shows the result of good working relationship. The correlation between the armed forces and the private security companies, that cooperation between us is what we are seeing today with these humongous projects that Tantita has done”, he added.

Fielding questions from journalists over claims that the navy and Tantita had a frosty relationship at a time, the FOC said there is no frosty relationship between Tantita and the Navy except some issues that have been long resolved.

“There’s not been any frosty relationship. We’ve had a very cordial relationship. I was there when the surveillance contract was awarded in 2022. Of course, along the line, we may just have one or two issues, but between us, we resolve and continue to work together. For them to invested in these kind of projects, it means we have a good relationship with them.

“The relationship between Tantita and the Nigerian Navy is a long one. We must close all gaps and continue to work together so that Nigerians can benefit. When we have a secured maritime space, there will be a lot of opportunities for national growth”, Ibrahim said.

“What Tantita has done will go a long way to impact on habitabiliity of our personnel. We have gone to see the project and we see how beautifully done they are. And the personnel that will use them no doubt will enjoy the facilities and we urged them to ensure they are well maintained”, he added.

He commanded the Commander, NNS DELTA, and the entire Project Team for exemplary leadership and quality works delivery which he said has transformed the Base.

Speaking on behalf the Managing Director, Engr. Kestin Pondi, the Executive Director of Operations and Technical Services, Captain (Dr.) Warredi Enisuoh, who was flanked by Tantita Military Liason, Brig-General (Engr.) Felix Edafioghor (Rtd), expressed the commitment of the private security firm to promoting tactical field operations of the navy in synergy with Tantita.

He said that the projects was undertaken as part of the company’s commitment to supporting security agencies protesting Nigeria’s critical oil assets.

“We are respectful of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, for the very noble cause they embarked on. These are people who have signed up to exchange their lives for us to Iive. This is the least we can do to give them comfort, as much as possible in the course of their next duty.

He said that Tantita’s operations across the nation’s waterways and offshore assets cannot succeed without the support of the Nigerian Navy.

“You know our responsibilities cover the oceans, as well as waters. We can’t do that without the support and comfort of the Nigerian Navy that was what informed our decision.

“Once the security is addressed, it is left for the investors to come in, then do their best to help us in rounding up production for the nation”, he enthused.

Earlier, in a welcome address, the Commander of Nigerian Navy Ship Delta, Commodore Shehu Tasiu, expressed delight over the facilities, including car parks, sports courts, and accommodation projects like the executive officers’ house and senior rates’ quarters, which he said was aim to improve the living and working conditions of naval personnel.

He thanked Tantita Security Service Limited for sponsoring the projects, maintaining that their support demonstrates a strong partnership between private sector and national security efforts, directly boosting operational effectiveness and morale.

Cdr. Tasiu also thanked other security agencies, government representatives, and partners, urging more corporate involvement in enhancing welfare facilities.

Meanwhile, as part of activities marking the Nigerian Navy’s 70th Anniversary celebration, the NNS Delta has donated 1200 exercise books, 350 school bags, textbooks, 10 white boards, markers, footballs and school bells to pupils of Ogiame Primary School, Warri.

The outreach tagged Educational Rhapsody also featured a career talk, cultural display and interactive sessions between naval officers and the pupils with Commander urging the pupils to remain dedicated to their studies.

Speaking at the event, Cdr. Tasiu expressed the Navy’s commitment to nation-building through civil-military cooperation.

He emphasized that education is vital for Nigeria’s future security and prosperity, hence the Navy introduced the “Educational Rhapsody” initiative, which provides learning materials to motivate students.

He commended teachers, parents, and community members for their roles in shaping the youth, reaffirmed the Navy’s dedication to supporting education and social development, and expressed hope that these efforts will inspire students to achieve their goals.
