The Director-General and Chuef Executive Officer of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Charles Odii, on Wednesday, said that Nigeria is advancing discussions on strategic global partnerships and enterprise empowerment.

He spoke at a strategic meeting with the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, at Geneva, Switzerland as part of SMEDAN’s defining plans for Nigeria’s economic advancement.

The meeting was a convergence of influence, vision, and national purpose.

At the heart of the engagement was a shared resolve to elevate Nigeria’s small and medium enterprises; the true engine of the nation’s economy.

Across markets, workshops, farms, and digital platforms, millions of Nigerians continue to build daily against the odds, firmly positioning the country within the landscape of global opportunity.

As reflected in the spirit of the dialogue, “when the right structures meet the resilience of our people, growth is no longer a projection; it becomes inevitable.”

Discussions focused on unlocking bottlenecks that limit growth, opening pathways into international markets, and aligning Nigerian businesses with global standards.

“The goal is clear: to ensure that Nigerian entrepreneurs do not merely participate in global trade, but define their place within it.”

With clarity and purpose, both leaders explored integrated strategies to strengthen Nigeria’s value chains from local production to global distribution laying the groundwork for sustainable economic expansion.

Emphasizing a people-centered approach, Charles Odii noted that “this is about building a system where effort is rewarded, innovation is supported, and every Nigerian entrepreneur has a fair opportunity to succeed.”

Nigeria stands at a pivotal point where leadership is intentional, youth-driven energy is embraced, and the future is being deliberately built; not by chance-
but by design.
