The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta North Senatorial District has declared its full support for the creation of Anioma State, proposed to become the sixth state in Nigeria’s South-East geopolitical zone.

In a formal letter dated November 3, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of the Senate Sub-committee on State Creation, Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno, Delta North APC Zonal Chairman, Chief Adizue Eluaka, affirmed that Anioma is “ready for statehood.”

Chief Eluaka stated that the people of Delta North are united in backing the move, describing the demand for Anioma State as a matter of fairness, equity, and strategic balance within Nigeria’s federal structure.

“The APC Delta North Senatorial District is fully and unequivocally in support of the creation of Anioma State. The realization of Anioma State stands as both a matter of fairness and strategic advantage for the federation,” Eluaka wrote.

He emphasized that there was no dissenting voice within Delta North against the proposal, noting that it aligns with principles of equity and historical continuity.

Calling on the Senate to honour the legacy of Anioma leaders such as Chief Dennis Osadebey, Eluaka said the new state would strengthen unity, representation, and administrative balance in Nigeria.

He commended Senator Ned Nwoko for his leadership in sponsoring the Anioma State creation bill, which seeks to correct the imbalance where the South-East has only five states compared to six in other zones and seven in one.

Eluaka highlighted that Anioma’s proposal was the most comprehensive among all state creation requests before the National Assembly, giving the movement renewed national recognition.

Recalling the region’s historical experiences during the civil war, Eluaka said Anioma’s creation would heal old wounds and restore pride among its people.

He reaffirmed that Anioma was prepared for statehood, stressing that the move would boost the South-East’s political representation, landmass, and economic strength.

“The creation of Anioma as the sixth state of the South-East will strengthen Nigeria’s political stability and national unity. It is both an act of justice and a reaffirmation of the Senate’s responsiveness to the aspirations of the Nigerian people,” Eluaka noted.
