We’re Delivering on our Mandate Despite High Recurrent Expenditure – Isoko South Boss

The chairman of the Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, Friday Ovoke Warri, said in spite of the high recurrent expenditure of the council, his administration has not failed in delivering dividends of democracy to the people.

Warri, stated this Friday during inspection tour and oversight legislative visit to the council by the Delta State House of Assembly committee on local government and chieftaincy affairs.

The council chairman, emphasized that his administration was making every effort to deliver democratic dividends to the grassroots, despite the local government’s high recurrent expenditure of approximately 85%.

Warri underscored his administration’s commitment to infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare, and sustainable development, ensuring that every expenditure contributes to the progress of Isoko South residents, notwithstanding the high expenditure.

Prior to unveiling his accomplishments, the chairman reflected on key achievements since his administration took office in June 2024 to include, rehabilitation of the failed Ogbemudia road with drainage systems, remodeling of the Isoko South council chairman’s quarters, renovation of the Isoko South Head of Personal Management (HPM) quarters, renovation of a modern gatehouse and perimeter fencing, rehabilitation of the failed Irri-Oyede road, rehabilitation of the Emede internal road, ongoing construction of a new ultra-modern secretariat for Isoko South, establishment of a pepper farm to enhance the council’s internal revenue, empowerment of over 33 persons, five from each ward, to augment their business ventures distribution of notebooks to all public primary schools in Isoko South, renovation of primary health care centers in Aviara, Uzere, and Oleh in collaboration with sister agencies and among others.

Warri expressed delight over the visit of the committee members, stating that the oversight serves as a guide to assist councils in aligning with state and federal government policies of renewed hope for a more comprehensive agenda.

Speaking on behalf of the committee, the chairman, Chukwudi Dafe, urged the council chairman to complement the genuine efforts of the state government in attracting more development to all areas of the local government.

Dafe, who is representing the Ukwuani constituency in the House, stated that the grassroots must experience the positive impacts of the Renewed Hope for More Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

The committee chairman, further stated that although, the current administration assumed power under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), there was a concerted movement into the All Progressive Congress (APC) for Renewed Hope for More Agenda, and they were on the visit to ascertain if the council is already aligned with the Renewed Hope for More Agenda at the grassroots through meaningful development and projects, as this would culminate in the happiness of the people.

“Meaningful development is crucial; that will bring satisfaction to the people who elected us, as I do not foresee the APC relinquishing power at the federal, state, and Isoko South levels anytime soon. It is essential that our people are protected through development initiatives and projects.” He added.

The highpoint of the visit which was an inspection of some of the projects executed by the council chairman, had members of the committee and members of the state house of Assembly, James Augoye, Oboro Preyor, Augustine Uroye, Emmanuel Sinebe, Ferguson Onwo, and Hon. Emmanuel Sinebe.

Other attendees included officials from the Isoko South local government council who play vital roles in the administration of the Isoko South local government. These officials comprised Vice Chairperson, Theresa Ikrike Oghale; Secretary to the local government, Zino Osuofa; councilors and supervising councilors; and key department heads, including the Head of Personnel Management, Head of the Agricultural Department, and Head of the Education Department.
