Former NNPCL GCEO, Mele Kyari Honours EFCC’s Invitation Over Alleged ‘Financial Misappropriation’

The former group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Mele Kyari, is reportedly being quizzed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over financial misappropriation.

The development was revealed by a source inside the EFCC, adding that the funds were meant for the maintenance of the three state-owned refineries during Kyari’s tenure.

The source shared, “We’re grilling him as to alleged financial misappropriation regarding the maintenance of the three refineries when he was there.

“It’s been an ongoing investigation, and we invited him, and he came. He is still with the EFCC.”

As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been made by the EFCC on the investigation.
