Leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ovwian Ward 7, Udu Local Government Area, issued a stern warning to party members on Friday, cautioning them against being deceived into defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

They reaffirmed that “there is no other party apart from PDP in Ovwian Ward 7.”

Speaking at a meeting held at the Ovwian Community town hall, the PDP leaders urged members to remain loyal and continue working toward reclaiming the party’s stolen mandate.

Chief Odjeku Matthew Uparan, a former PDP Ward 7 leader, emphasized that the individuals who recently defected to APC were the ones who previously deceived party members into leaving PDP.

He assured members of the party’s integrity, stating, “We will not betray the trust and confidence reposed in us. We remain committed to PDP.”

Also, Chief Oghenero Akpovwan Destiny urged residents to resist any attempts by APC members to lure them away, advising, “Stay in PDP and work for the party’s success. If APC approaches you, tell them to stay in their party while we focus on PDP.”

In the same vein, Hon. Lawson A. Oghoifo highlighted that defectors to APC have historically caused problems within PDP and noted that since their departure, PDP has gained strength. He celebrated the party’s resilience, asserting, “We are not thieves. We remain strong and committed to PDP.”

Oghoifo also contrasted current economic conditions with the past, recalling that during President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s administration, petrol sold for N65 per litre, whereas under APC, it now exceeds N900. He warned that the PDP will work tirelessly to reclaim its mandate in the 2027 general elections and to rescue Nigeria from political and economic crises.

Comrade William Saiki, Chairman of PDP in Ovwian Ward 7, declared unwavering support for the party, stating, “We have decided to follow PDP and there is no turning back.”

Hon. Johnbull Kenairu, Udu Local Government Area Coordinator of PDP, affirmed, “There is no APC in Ward 7. APC is dead here. Only PDP exists in this area.” He called on residents to support the party’s efforts to regain its mandate.

Other party stalwarts, including Chief Felix Sibako, Hon. Joseph Oro, Oghuvwie-General (Prime Minister) of Ovwian, and community leaders such as Ovedje Ovien Sylvester and Chief Matthew Kilolo, expressed solidarity with the party’s stance and goals.

The PDP leaders reiterated their commitment to strengthening the party at the grassroots and vowed to reclaim political dominance in the upcoming elections, emphasizing unity and loyalty among members.
