Several serving and former governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), are currently in a closed door at the Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja for an important strategic meeting.

BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) reports the meeting is part of move to solidify party cohesion and wrestle power from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

The gathering was attended by prominent figures, including former governors such as Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), and others from various states across Nigeria.

Serving governors like Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), and Peter Mbah (Enugu) also attended, alongside the acting PDP National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum.

Sources privy to the meeting hinted discussions are likely centered on ongoing efforts to unify its ranks amid increasing political defections and wrangling within its ranks ahead of 2027 general elections.

Discussions are believed to have centered on consolidating party support, addressing internal challenges, and strategizing for electoral success.

Sources indicate that the gathering reflects the party’s push to harness the influence of both current and former governors to strengthen its political base nationwide.

The leadership’s focus remains on fostering unity and ensuring the PDP remains a formidable force in Nigeria’s political landscape.
