The Senator representing Delta North, Distinguished Senator Prince Ned Nwoko, has constructed a state-of-the-art Mini Stadium at Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State in a groundbreaking move to promote grassroots sports and youth development in the area.

The newly completed facility features a modern football pitch, a seven-a-side multi-sports pitch, pavilions on both sides, and fully equipped dressing rooms. The project is expected to energize the local sports scene, providing a vibrant space for budding athletes and sports enthusiasts in Delta North and beyond.

Senator Nwoko, a renowned advocate for grassroots sports, has consistently demonstrated his commitment to harnessing young talents.

His passion led to the establishment of Nigeria’s first Sports University, located in Idumuje-Ugboko, his hometown. The university, now in its second academic session, is a pioneering institution that allows students to pursue higher education while excelling in sports.

Speaking on the significance of the facility, Dr. Michael Nwoko, chief of staff to the Senator, said “Senator Nwoko believes in catching them young. His vision is to develop athletes from an early stage rather than relying on last-minute preparations before national and international competitions.”

Beyond nurturing future stars, the Sports University also provides an opportunity for established athletes to earn academic qualifications while advancing their sporting careers.

The site of the sports facility was originally conceived as a local government stadium in one of the previous administrations but was abandoned for years.

Senator Nwoko’s visionary intervention has revitalized the facility, transforming it into a sports hub that will serve the community and attract sports talent from across the region.

With the completion of this Mini Stadium, Delta North is set to witness a new era of sports excellence, talent discovery, and economic growth, reinforcing Senator Ned Nwoko’s unwavering dedication to youth empowerment and grassroots sports development.
