Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a new political group populated by professionals, politicians, and thought leaders has been unveiled to promote harmony and build cohesion, among others within Delta North Senatorial District.

The emergence of the group, christened, ‘Delta North Progressives’, is in a decisive move to amplify its influence in the forthcoming electoral cycle and, with the aim of ensuring that the Delta North Senatorial District, asserts its rightful place in the political landscape in Delta State and beyond.

A press statement signed by the convener, Prof. Leroy Edozien, and made available to journalists in the state on Thursday, averred that the initiative seeks to promote unity, visibility, and assertiveness across the district’s nine Local Government Areas.

“Leaders in the progressive movement must work in harmony, build cohesion, and uphold the basic tenets of democracy,” Edozien emphasised.

Invariably, the self-funded group has begun engaging prominent individuals from Anioma, the region’s ethnic identity, to share its vision and garner support.

These outreach efforts are designed to foster widespread collaboration among stakeholders, ensuring the district remains a formidable force in shaping future political developments.

Brainstorming sessions have also been conducted to refine the group’s strategies and goals, with the strong conviction that a united front will secure a more equitable political representation for Delta North in the next dispensation.

“We are committed to ensuring that our district gets a fair deal, politically speaking,” the statement affirmed.

The statement reads in part:

“In the rapidly evolving political climate ahead of the next electoral cycle, it is imperative for Delta North Senatorial District to gear up, take its rightful place and speak assertively.

“Towards this end, leaders in the progressive movement should work in harmony, build cohesion, and uphold the basic tenets of democracy.

“In pursuit of this goal, a formidable group of eminent professionals, politicians, and leaders of thought from the nine Local Government Areas in Delta North senatorial district has been convened with a mandate to ensure that the senatorial district is united, visible and vocal ahead of the next political dispensation.

“The group has held brainstorming sessions and is reaching out to prominent sons and daughters of Anioma to intimate them of its objectives and secure their buy-in.
