A banker in Benin, Edo state, met a tragic end over the weekend the Government Reservation Area (GRA), Benin after he was shot dead by armed cultists who tricked him with a fake invitation to a hangout.

According to reports, Nosa was in his office when he received a call from an unidentified person inviting him to a hangout after work.

Unsuspecting of any foul play, Nosa agreed to meet the caller at their usual spot.

However, on his way there, his assailants, who had been trailing him, blocked his car and opened fire. Passersby rushed him to an undisclosed hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

Edo Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident and described it as very unfortunate.

Nwabuzor said: “The matter is under investigation. Further information, as we progress in the investigation, will be made public by the command”, The Nation reports.

The PPRO also gave an assurance that the killers of the promising banker would be brought to book, in order to serve as a deterrent to other criminally-minded persons.
