Gov Oborevwori Mourns As 7 Die In Devastating Tanker Fire Accident
Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has extended his heartfelt condolences to the Ometan community in Okpe Local Government Area after a devastating tanker fire accident claimed the lives of seven indigenes on Friday morning.
BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) repoets that the tragic incident occurred around 10am when a fuel-laden tanker’s head detached while in motion along the Warri-Sapele Road, resulting in a massive fire that engulfed the surrounding area.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as “chaotic and horrific”.
Visiting the accident scene, Governor Oborevwori, accompanied by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, and former Chairman of Okpe Local Government Council, Hon. Isaiah Esiovwa, expressed his deepest sympathies to the affected families and the community.
“This is a very sad situation, and I commiserate with the people of Ometan community and the families of those who lost their lives in this unfortunate incident,” the Governor said, visibly moved by the tragedy.
He said, “I was just coming from the creeks where I went to inspect projects and there was no network so immediately I arrived the Navy jetty, I received a message from the Head of Personnel Management of Okpe Local Government Council informing me of the sad incident.
“On getting here I saw dead bodies and those who witnessed the unfortunate incident, said the tanker had an accident and exploded which led to the fire explosion”, the governor said.
