2023 Polls: Heavy Security Presence In Warri, Effurun As Distribution Of Voting Materials Begins

There are heavy security presence mainly soldiers mounting strategic junctions in twin cities of Warri and Effurun commercial hubs of Delta State as distribution of electoral materials commenced at the office of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), located at Esisi road, Warri.

BIGPEN NIGERIA (www.bigpenngr.com) reports that distribution of sensitive materials, also ongoing at Otor-Udu, Udu local government area.

It was learnt that INEC commenced the distribution of sensitive election materials to the various Polling units in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State at the wee hours of the day.

At the INEC Secretariat in Esisi road, policemen deployed for the election were milling round waiting to escort the election materials to various polling units.

The vicinity was rowdy with people of various spade including NYSC members who are INEC ad-hoc staff for the election.

Soldiers were seen at Effurun roundabout, Enerhen junction, Jakpa junction in Uvwie council area and Orhuwhorun and Express Junctions in Udu council area.

Speaking to journalist at his office, INEC Electoral Officer in Warri, Delta State, Mr. Kingsley Ogboe disclosed that they started distribution of the materials as early as 5:am today.

While pointing out that the Warri South Local Government Area is a large one, Ogboe said there’s rowdiness at his office with people moving in and out to their various Polling Units.

He, however urged politicians and voters to maintain peace and decorum to have a peaceful election stressing that INEC is ready to their job.

“This is best preparation by INEC so far”, he said.

It was observed however that contrary to claim by the INEC electoral officer that distribution started since 5:30am, materials were just leaving the Esisi road of the INEC office as of 10:30am to the various polling units.
