The Vice-Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council of Delta State, Olorogun Daniel Ighedo, has reportedly died.
Multiple sources said that Ighedo slumped and died on Tuesday in Effurun, near Warri, the commercial hub of the state.
According to sources, he was pronounced dead by doctor on arrival to a Warri hospital where he was rushed to for medical attention.
It was not clear how he died as of press time.
But a Warri-based tabloid, The Niger Delta Today, reports that Ighedo death has triggered jubilation in Uvwie as the council vice chairman is reportedly perceived as ‘enemy’ of the Kingdom.
He was said to have been having a running battle with the traditional ruler of the Kingdom, HRM Abe I for months over appointment of Community Liaison Officer (CLO) to companies in the area.
Ighedo who hails from Ekpan in Uvwie kingdom was ostracized some months ago after he wrote a petition against the traditional ruler demanding his arrest and interrogation by the police.
