Fresh facts have emerged as to why the chairman of the Police Service Commission(PSC), Musiliu Smith, resigned from office.

The controversy surrounding the hiring of Constable into the Nigerian police force is said to have caused Smith, a former Inspector General of Police (IGP), to resign.

Retired Justice Clara Ogunbiyi, who is standing in for the judiciary at the commission, will take over from Smith.

Ikechukwu Ani, the PSC’s head of press and public relations, told a journalist over the phone that the chairman had resigned.

Ani stated that she would release a statement regarding the resignation tomorrow, Thursday.
