JUST IN: Buhari Delays APC Convention Over Plot By Some Govs To Dump His Preferred Candidate

President Muhammadu Buhari seems to be delaying the take off of the ongoing national convention of the All Progressive Congress (APC) over alleged plot by some governors to dump the consensus agreement on the national chairman position.
BIGPENNGR reports that Buhari who always keep to time for national functions was yet to show up for the convention as of 6:50pm Saturday evening.
Buhari was scheduled to arrive the venue by 3:15pm for the 3:30pm takeoff time for recitation of the national anthem but as of 6:50pm he was no-show.
Speculations are rife at the venue that some governors are planning to ditch the agreement reached on Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the consensus candidate for the chairmanship position.
Adamu is Buhari’s man friday. Six other aspirants in the race including Akume, Al-Makura, Yari, Musa, Muhammad, Mustapha had early withdrew from the race.
Their withdrawal was contained in a letter to the chairman, APC Election Sub-committee.
In the letter signed by Akume on behalf of himself, Senator Tanko Al-Makura, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari, Senator Sani Musa Muhammed, Comrade Etsu Muhammed and Turaki Salifu Mustapha, the aspirants said they were withdrawing owing to appeal by President Muhammadu Buhari for them to agree to a consensus arrangement for Adamu to be consensus candidate.
But findings show that some governors are not happy with the arrangement and are reportedly plotting to influence their state delegates to vote their preferred choice.
Following the development which is causing uncertainty and anxiety at the Eagle Square, venue of the convention, Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State, late Saturday night mounted the podium to announce reason for the delay.
The governor told the delegates that the party was still working to reach consensus on all positions so that there would be no need for election.
