Embattled National Chairman of the Nigeria’s main opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche secondus on Friday resumed office following a Kebbi State High Court order that reinstated him as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
BIGPENNGR reports that Secondus took over the Wadata Plaza, Abuja national secretariat of the main opposition party, in company of acting National Chairman, Elder Yemi Akinwonmi and former Ogun state governorship aspirant of the party, Ladi Adebutu.
Akinwonmi who was favoured by some governors of the party to replace Secondus against the deputy chairman (North), is said to be a political associate of Secondus.

Secondus’ return to office as the substantive National Chairman of the Party, followed a Kebbi state High Court order issued on Thursday evening.

Addressing newsmen briefly on his resumption, prince Secondus said he was obeying the Kebbi state Court order just as he obeyed the order from Rivers state high court which asked him to step aside on Tuesday.

Secondus however declined further comment on the matter saying it was not yet time to grant interviews.

“We obeyed the court order from Port Harcourt. We also obey the one of yesterday (Thursday).

“This is a party that follows the rule of law, that obey court orders,’’ he said.

Recall that following the Rivers state High Court order, the party through its organs including the Board of Trustees (BoT) affirmed Akinwonmi as the acting National Chairman.

The National Secretary of the party, Senator Umar Tsuari in response to a question Thursday said that if there was another court order on Secondus, the party would obey it.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Secondus resumed office ahead of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) extended meeting scheduled for Friday.

The High Court in Rivers had on Monday granted an interim order, restraining Secondus from parading himself as the national chairman and member of the PDP.

Justice Okogbule Gbasam of the Degema Judicial Division, presiding over a vacation court in Port Harcourt, granted the order, pending the determination of the substantive suit.

However, another court of coordinate jurisdiction in Kebbi on Thursday restored the embattled national chairman to his position.
