NFF Structure: Professional Footballers’ Task Force Gives Amaju-led NFF 90 Days Notice

Project 2022 Task Force, an offshoot of Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN), has given the Pinnick Amaju-led Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) a statutory 90 days notice to overhaul the machineries of the Nigeria Football Federation or face legal action.

BIGPENNGR reports that the taskforce comprises of ex-international footballers and local leagues footballers, gave the warning at a press conference held in Warri, Delta State on Saturday.

Addressing the media, chairman/facilitator of the Task Force project 2022, Harrison Jalla, said that Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) was out to correct the abnormally in the administration of NFF in the country ahead 2022 change of baton of leadership in the NFF.

The group said that PFAN, is the only body that have the locus standi by extension and implication to seek for ways to correct flaws and impediments that have made football development stunted for too long.

Jalla who was flanked by Chief Rumson Victor Baribote, Edema Fuludu, Comrade Austin Popo, Comrade Dahiru Sadi, Comrade Tajudeen Disu among others, said that it has become imperative to right the wrong done to ex-international footballers and local leagues footballers, who are the biggest stakeholders in the Nigeria Football and member of the NFF.

He said that the constituted task force was “not in a wild goose chase” as they are out to use every legal means in advocacy, statutory rights, moral grounds and legislation to convince all football stakeholders internal and external on the need for immediate action plan to right the obtusely flawed structure running for over seven decades and half to date.

Asked what the demands of the group are, Jalla said that the task force has been mandated to push for the amendment of the current Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) statutes 2010 as well as composition of the NFF congress.

The group, in the press conference statement, also demanded for the composition of the executive committee of the NFF as well as unveiling of a voting pattern that would be agree upon by all critical stakeholders in the Nigeria Football administration.

According to him, the group, also demanded amendment of any other relevant provisions of NFF statutes 2010 in consonance with FIFA, CAF, NFF and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.

“In the light of the above, a 90 days mandatory notice from today 26th of June 2021 in hereby given vide the relevant provisions of Article 27 sub 1 and 2 of the NFF statutes 2010”.

The group warned that at end of the 90 statutory notice which was given in accordance to relevant sections of the NFF statutes 2010, FIFA and CAF, they will have no option than to commence a legal action against the NFF to prod it to take action on their demands.

BIGPENNGR recalls that the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) president Amaju Pinnick had stated that he will not seek a third term at the helm of the organisation.

Pinnick’s current second term in charge of the NFF will end next year and he had revealed that his decision to stand for only two terms was made when he won re-election back in 2018.
