How I Killed Another Woman After My Escape — Ibadan Serial Killer

More details have emerged of how rearrested suspected serial killer, Sunday Sodipe carried out his nefarious activities in Oyo state.

Sodipe who was paraded by the police on Wednesday, confessed that he is responsible for the recent death of another woman in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The suspect, who is responsible for at least 9 unresolved homicides, made the revelation when he was paraded on Wednesday at the Oyo State Police Command in Ibadan, following his rearrest on Sunday.

Two days after his escape from police custody on August 11, 2020, the suspect reportedly carried out the killing of one Mrs. Funmilayo Oladeji at her home.

When asked where he headed after his escape, he said he went to Akinyele again.

On how he killed the deceased, Shodipe said, “I inflicted machete cut on her head.”

On how he escaped, he said he jumped over the prison fence when he was allowed to go and have his bath because his supervisor got distracted while talking to someone, according to Galaxay Tv report.

BIGPEN reports that after his escape from prison, the Inspector-General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, declared him wanted and also deployed additional investigative aids to Oyo State to complement the efforts of the state Police Command.

Shodipe is a prime suspect in the multiple murder of innocent citizens at Moniya, Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The additional deployment were made of crack detectives from the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and the Special Tactical Squad (STS) of the Force Intelligence Bureau, Abuja.

According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Frank Mba, the team were mandated to bring their vast operational, technical and investigative experience to bear in the re-arrest of suspect which eventually paid off on Sunday.

The fugitive serial killer was re-arrested, Sunday, 23rd August, 2020 by Police operatives at the Bodija area of Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital.
