Giadom Says Buhari Approved APC’s NEC Meeting In Villa

Victor Giadom, a court approved acting national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed Thursday June 25 for the National Executive Committee meeting of the party at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

A formal letter reconvening the meeting which was earlier suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari in March, was addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday.

In the letter personally signed by Giadom which had the stamp of INEC’s acknowledged receipt, is entitled “Reconvening of National Working Committee Meeting”.

The letter reads, “Recall our earlier letter to you wherein we intimated you of the National Executive Committee meeting of our party earlier scheduled for Tuesday March 17, 2020. Unfortunately, that meeting was postponed.

“However, this is to inform you of the reconvening of the said meeting which is now billed to hold on Thursday June 25, 2020. Venue: Presidential Villa, Aso Rock. Time: 10am.

“While looking forward to your cooperation, please accept the renewed assurances of my highest regard.”

Another statement made available to newsmen in Abuja reads, “I, Chief Victor Giadom, having been duly authorized by Court Order to Act as National Chairman of our great party and to preside over all meetings of the NWC and NEC hereby and with the consent of the President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR (who is the leader of our Party) reconvene the NEC meeting that was earlier billed to hold on the 17th of March, 2020, but was postponed.

“The reconvened meeting shall hold on Thursday, June 25th, 2020. Venue shall be the State House, Abuja.

“However, in keeping strictly to the COVID-19 Guidelines, the postponed NEC shall proceed by virtual means. The codes would be sent by text to the phone numbers of all NEC members. Those to be physically present at the State House, Abuja, would also be communicated,” he said.

Meanwhile, a High Court sitting in Port Harcourt on Tuesday restrained Giadom from parading himself as APC acting national chairman or official of the party as well as participating in activities of the party.

The order was given by Justice C. Nwogu sequel an ex parte motion filed by Okechukwu Ogbonna and Mac-Lord Peterson, who claimed that Giadom remain suspended from the APC.

Justice Nwogu granted an order of interim injunction restraining Giadom “from parading self as an officer or member of the APC or exercising any right or privilege accrueable to members of the APC or however” having been suspended by the party.

The court adjourned the matter to July 9 for hearing of the substantive suit.
