The Tompolo Foundation, a philanthropic organisation of the former Niger Delta freedom fighter, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, on Monday commenced the distribution of tens of thousands of food aid to people in the riverine communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Council.

In a bid to curtail the spread of the coronavirus, the Delta state government had ordered lockdown of all communities and imposed a sit at home order on the people.

The development has left many in the riverine stranded and trapped since no provision was made for how food supplies can get to them to support themselves and survive the period.
