The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Maagu, says the Commission was hot on the heels of those behind the fraudulent activities, plaguing the National Social Investment Programmes (N-SIP) in Borno and Yobe States.

Magu made this known as the Deputy Head of Maiduguri Zonal Office of the EFCC, Hamza Ridwan, represented him in a live Hausa programme of the Maiduguri-based Radio Nigeria Peace FM on Sunday, September 15.

According to EFCC boss, “Based on complaints that were received during a forum on increasing transparency and participation in the implementation of N-SIP, the EFCC is working closely with some stakeholders with the aim of fishing out the culprits in the school feeding and other programmes”.

He further revealed that “The EFCC being a critical stakeholder in the implementation of N-SIP is currently investigating some individuals on some sharp practices involving farmer monies in Borno and Yobe states.”

While urging the general public to give vital information to the EFCC that would enable it carry out proper investigations and possible prosecution, he called on Parent Teachers Association (PTA) to be involved in the monitoring and evaluation of the federal government’s school feeding programme for the realisation of the objectives.

State director, National Orientation Agency, Yahay Imam, who was part of the radio programme charged the programme officer, School Feeding Programme, Hajia Zara Bukar to be more transparent because of the trust bestowed on her by the federal government.
