President Muhammadu Buhari will meet on Friday in Abuja with Governors of the 36 states of the federation over worrisome state of insecurity in the country, BIGPEN Online can report.

Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa disclosed this while fielding questions from newsmen on Thursday during a media chat at Government House Asaba, the state capital.

According to the governor, President Buhari would meet with governors to brainstorm and find solutions to the menace of herdsmen and other insecurity problems facing the country.

Okowa said, “on the issue of herdsmen menace, it is very unfortunate where we have find ourselves as a nation. It is very unfortunate. We are facing such challenges in Delta State but when we look at it nationally, Delta state is not even among the states that where classified as hotbed of herdsmen menace because there are worst things going on throughout this country that ought not to be. And I think the issue has come to a boiling point that it struck me to report that everybody is actually agitating and we are now being put on our toes.

“In fact the President has call a meeting of all the governors for tomorrow…and the issues we going to discuss is the security situation acroas the nation. It is something we need to find solutions to before it consumes us. It is very unfortunate where we find ourselves today and I hope we will be able to find appropriate solution to it.

“The area you talked about I am very much aware of it and we will tackle it but we need a very strong directives that would come from the presidency and if that is done it would enable us take certain actions. And if that is done, we will just try our best to quell it, I’m not saying we are not doing the best we can now but with a very strong statement coming from the presidency, the governors would do their best and I’m sure it will come out of our meeting tomorrow.

“It is very unfortunate, even on Tuesday I have to seek the Commissioner of Police to discuss this issues because we are very worried of what’s going on about insecurity and the fact that people can no longer go to their farms freely is very worrisome. So we are doing everything necessary for us to be able to deal with this situation”, Okowa assured.
