How Okowa’s Men Are Scheming To Undo Themselves Over Juicy Positions

Published

on

Ahead the inauguration of the next dispensation with attendant appointments that would follow, some appointees and political associates of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa have started scheming and plotting to get juicy positions in the second term government.

Investigation revealed that some of the political appointees of the governor are plotting against each other over some juicy positions that may be zoned by the PDP.

Sources said that there is serious undercurrent fight over the position of the Secretary to the State Government, SSG as well as the Speakership position which are usual zoned by the political party.

BIGPEN ONLINE however gathered that whilst some of the appointees are scheming for better position, others are lobbying to be retain.

There is however fear that many who didn’t deliver during the last general election would not make it back as appointees of government in the second tenure cabinet appointment and patronage.

Already, the Kingsley Esiso-led State Executive Committee of the PDP have long constituted a committee to purged the system of those who were allegedly involved in anti-party activities during the election and the committee is likely to submit its report to the governor soon.

Credible sources hinted that the report of the committee may indict some persons and the Governor is likely to use it as a guide for his second tenure appointment.

Also, the Prof. Sam Oyovbaire-led committee for transition to second tenure (May, 2019 – May, 2023) was also mandate to produce a comprehensive overview of the performance of all ministries, departments and agencies of government including the implementation of the governor’s “SMART” agenda for the last four years (2015-2019) by all including the commissioners from where the state government as a government that’s continuum in its policy thrust would be guided in policies formulations, implementations, appointments and to likely know those who may not make it back to the system.

Sources said that Governor Okowa may drop the incumbent SSG, Ovie Agas who was his campaign director general in 2015 for former finance commissioner, George Orogun who said to be his favorite candidate for the position but allegedly linked to Ibori’s fraud case.

However, report says the 2019 campaign Director General of the governor, Solomon Funkekeme who is also a member of the transition committee is seriously scheming for the plum job and ready to crush anyone who want to block his chances against the purported zoning of the SSG position to Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state.

Our often credible Government House sources hinted that the governor wants the SSG to go to Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state while the Speakership remains in Okpe local government area but some forces want a reverse and the ouster of Sheriff Oborevwori against the thinking of the government.

Besides Funkekeme who is jostling to get a juicy position in the second tenure, Arthur Akpowhowo who is also a member of the transition committee and one of those hoping to be appointed as commissioner as well as Evance Ivwurie are among those lobbying for lucrative position.
