Ghastly Motor Accident Claims 9 Lives In Delta

Tragedy struck in Delta State over the weekend as nine reportedly died in ghastly motor accident.

The incident happened on Saturday when the victims were returning from a wedding ceremony in Asaba, the state capital.

BigPen Online learnt that the sad incident happened along Kwale-Asaba Expressway, after Osissa Bridge heading towards Nsukwa.

Our source said that a vehicle that was driving against traffic caused the death of the victims who were burnt beyond recognition.

Meanwhile, Director General of the Delta State Traffic Management Authority, DESTMA, Stephen Dieseruvwe who confirmed the incident however said from the brief he got five lives were lose in the accident.

He however called for the criminalization of driving against traffic in the state.

“Driving against traffic: Time to criminalise the act of insane and demented drivers who cause death driving against traffic.

“Over this weekend, an insane, demented and cursed driver, driving against traffic on the Ughelli-Asaba Expressway, after Osissa Bridge heading towards Nsukwa, claimed the lives of an entire family of five (5).

“It is high time we criminalise causing death driving against traffic. I am recommending life imprisonment for this offence. A petition to that effect will drafted. Enough Is Enough. This madness must stop. say no to driving against traffic”, he wrote on his facebook page.
