Despite ASUU Strike, ABTU Students Continue With Exams

Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Students, are writing their second semester Examination, despite the nationwide strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

ASUU commenced the indefinite strike on Monday over poor funding of universities in the country.

According to NAN, ATBU students who began their examination last week continued under the supervision of their lecturers.

‎Aminu Ibrahim, a student of the department of microbiology of the university, said: “We are in our second week of exams, the exams will be end on the 19th of November.

“He equally said, we don’t know ASUU is on strike because our exams are going on smoothly. We are only aware of labour strike which was suspended.

‎”All the same we are pleading on them to allow us write-up our exams before joining the strike.”

Another student, Ibrahim Giade of mechanical engineering, told NAN that “we are calling on our lectures to allow us complete our exams before they join the nationwide strike, they should pity with us some of us come from far and near distance”.

Adamu Babayo, chairman, ASUU ATBU Bauchi chapter, said he would comment on the situation after a congress.

Babayo said “We will be holding Congress any moment from now we will brief you after the congress,”.
