Uduaghan Decorated As NOC Patron (PHOTOS)

Immediate past governor of Delta State and Delta South Senatorial Candidate of the Nigeria’s ruling party APC, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan was on Tuesday decorated as patron of Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) at the Elegushi Palace in Ikate, Lagos.
Uduaghan who is the first Deltan to be a patron of the NOC, was decorated alongside other distinguished Nigerians who have contributed immensely to the growth of sport in Nigeria.
Those who were also honoured include the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress and former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, His Royal Majesty, Oba S. A. Elegushi, Chief Kofoworola Nwokedi and Sir Marc Wabara.
The former governor who posted about the honour on his Facebook page said: “Earlier today, I was decorated as a patron of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) by the President of the NOC, Engr. Habu Gumel, alongside other distinguished Nigerians who have contributed immensely to the growth of sport in Nigeria.
“Congratulations to the other patrons – H.E Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Former Governor of Lagos State, HRM, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi (Kusenla III) Sir, Marc Inyanagbo Wabara, Business Mogul and technocrat, HRH (Mrs) Kofoworola Nwokedi, former Gold Medalist and President of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (N.W.F)
“I am the first Deltan to be a patron of the NOC”, he posted.
BigPen Online reports that the body in an earlier statement said that the patrons were being honoured for their contributions to the development of sports in the country and the Olympic movement, in particular.
“It is therefore our honour to invest the honourees as patrons of the Olympic Movement, which is in recognition of their meritorious contributions to humanity, sport and societal development,” the statement concluded.
The responsibilities of patrons of the NOC is to advice and support the Olympic Movement as appropriate.
